I'm Thankful

1. I am thankful for an eternal wife and family

2. I'm thankful for a vent. so I can sleep and stay alive. I found out that a doctor does not enjoy it when a patient stops breathing during a simple procedure.

3. I'm thankful for the gift of choice. Because of this gift I can choose the right.

4. I'm thankful for the great plan of happiness. This allows me to choose my actions.
5.  I'm thankful that I can repent when my choice of actions do not agree with the eternal plan. If I commit a sin, it can be washed clean by repentance and baptism. The plan also includes the Lord's supper each week where one can renew the baptismal covenants and which include; "To always remember him; to keep his commandments which he has given them; and to have his Spirit to be with them".

6. I'm thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and his incredible sacrifice for me. He has made it possible for me to dwell in heaven. For this I will be eternally grateful.

7. Yesterday I was more interested in myself than focusing on what I am thankful for. Today I'm thankful that our Father in heaven is so interested in our eternal welfare that he has provided a living prophet to give our lives direction.

8. I'm Thankful for noble parents and ancestors.

9.I'm thankful for life. For the ability to hug my grand children and greats. For additional time to repent.

10. I'm Thankful for the abundance of life. For a warm house and a bed with plenty of covers.

11. I'm thankful for a family that adopted Anne and me as grandparents. So far their oldest son has graduated with an associate degree. We have been without a vehicle for about a year and they transported us to church each week during that time.

12. I'm thankful for the desire to choose the right and even though I'm not 100% yet I keep trying.

13. I'm Thankful for "A marvelous work and a wonder". That John, the baptist, and Peter, James and John restored the priesthood to this mortal world in these, the latter days.

14. Considering the adversities I have endured, I'm Thankful that one of them has not been chronic pain.

15. I'm thankful that the commandment given in Malachi is noj a problem for me to live.

16. I'm thankful that I'm strong enough to exercise.

17. I'm Thankful that I'm converted to the Lord.

18. I'm thankful for the service rendered in my behalf.

19. I'm Thankful that my Father in heaven has introduced me to his tender mercies.

20. I'm thankful for a living prophet.

21. I'm thankful that the keys of the kingdom are held not only by the prophet but when he dies by the quorum of the twelve apostles.

22. I'm thankful for the many saints throughout The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints who, because of their love for there Savior, serve one another without pay.

23. I'm thankful that the Lord loves me enough to atone for my sins.

24. I'm thankful for service rendered in my behalf.

25. I'm thankful for the birth of my Savior.

26. I'm thankful that I am a Christian.

27. I'm thankful that the New Testament contains many of the teachings of Christ.

28. I'm thankful that the  Savior came to this continent where he  established his church.

29. I'm thankful that my parents endured all the difficulties involved in bringing me into this mortal world.

30. I'm thankful for the restoration.
31. A little over a year ago Anne was in a wreck. I'm thankful for her recovery.
32. I'm thankful for Anne. If not for her I would either be in the hospital or dead.
33. I'm thankful that I have many things to be thankful for.

Agency is the ability and privilege God gives us to choose and to act for ourselves. Agency is essential in the plan of salvation. Without it, we would not be able to learn or progress or follow the Savior. With it, we are “free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil” (2 Nephi 2:27)

I finished "Five Weeks In A Balloon" by Jules Verne.  I really enjoyed it.

Friday, August 24, 2012

I discovered Jules Verne at LibriVox the other day.  Since then I have listened to several books.  Unfortunately, some of them contain profanity.  Most don't mind but I do.  I would appreciate your help.

Don't aim at success--the more you aim
at it and make it a target, the more you are
going to miss it. For success, like
happiness, cannot be persued; it must
ensue, and it only does so as the un-
intended side-effect of one's personal
dedication to a cause greater than oneself
or as the by-product of one's surender to a
person other than oneself. Happiness must
happen, and the same holds for success;
you have to let it happen by not caring about it.

Robert D. Hales, “Agency: Essential to the Plan of Life,” Liahona, Nov. 2010

“Agency is to act with accountability and responsibility for our actions. Our agency is essential to the plan of salvation. With it we are 'free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil.' ”
